Here are a few sources of USB chips:
The PDIUSBD12
is a low cost device according to Philips information. It provides 6
endpoints and has an 8-bit parallel interface. It comes in a 28-pin package.
The ISP1181A
provides a more sophisticated alternative, with 14 endpoints and a
16-bit parallel bus. This device is not quite adequate with MSP430
apps. The device has 48 pins.
FTDI provides solutions with parallel and serial ports. The standard
parallel port device is named FT245BM.
This device has an 8-bit parallel port and comes in a 32-pin

FTDI provides PC-side (host) drivers free of charge.
